Family Life Ministry

This Commission, consisting of may different groups, coordinates family-oriented activities
and social events.  They work to create an environment that strengthens our parish as a family, recognizing the diversity of our members and the need for support at all ages and stages of life.  Family Life includes:

Parish Socials
Volunteers help organize parish-wide activities such as the Mother-Daughter and Father-Son Brunches, the Talent Show, and the Parish Picnic.  Although no previous experience is necessary, experience in organizing events is helpful.  Time commitments vary with each event.

Newcomer Welcomers
Anyone interested in welcoming newcomers and being a resource for them is encouraged to volunteer for this important ministry.

Supreme Timers
This wonderful organization welcomes any parish retirees, and those who wish they were retired, age 55 and up.  Its primary function is to provide an opportunity for senior parishioners to share fellowship and to serve the parish needs.  Meetings, which include a covered dish luncheon, are held monthly from September to May.

Hospitality
This group plans events to make people feel welcome at St. Aloysius including serving the coffee and donuts after Sunday Masses and welcoming and registering new parishioners.

Knights of Columbus
The K of C is a catholic fraternal organization for men 18 and older.  Based on the principles of charity, brotherhood, faith and patriotism, the group provides family, church, and community support.  The K of C sponsors the Tootsie Roll drive to aid people with mental retardation, and the Right to Life crosses, fish fries during Lent, and other parish activities.

Charismatic Prayer Group
This prayer group meets every Thursday evening at 7:30 pm.  They focus on learning to use the gifts (Charisms) of the Holy Spirit.

Confraternity of Christian Mothers
These ladies strive toward the Christian home education of children by truly Christian Mothers.  It plans to unite Christian ladies who are willing to assist one another to attain this noble purpose.

Scouting
Scouting is a wonderful opportunity for boys to spend time in a healthy environment and to begin to experience camping and learning outdoor skills.
Cub Scouts Pack 351 would like to invite all interested 1st – 3rd graders to join the group.
Boy Scout Troop 351 invites all interested 4th grade – high school age boys to join.

Men’s Basketball
A team is formed each year to provide adult men an opportunity for fun and fellowship in a winter church league.  Players must be 18 years or older and cannot participate in any college sport.  Season begins mid-November.

Co-ed Volleyball
The co-ed volleyball team competes against other church teams.  Games are once a week during the winter.

Tranportation of Elderly/Handicapped
This ministry transports elderly and handicapped parishioners to mass and appointments as needed.  Any parishioner with a current driver’s license may volunteer.  Time commitment is flexible.

Young Adult Ministry
The Young Adult Ministry program is open to any parishioner, married or single, in their 20′s or 30′s.  Events range from social to service to spiritual opportunities.

Some notable events to mention are the Parish Picnic, the Talent Show, St. Al’s Night at the
Crawdad’s, Craft Night, etc.  In addition to these well-known events, we would like to offer
more variety.  To do this, we need you!  If you are willing to help, even on an occasional
basis, please contact the Family Life Chairperson:  Judy Massengill at 828-327-3132.
